Taiwan smartphone maker HTC is kicking off the year with a brand new smartphone series that they are calling HTC U. Two devices under this new series are the HTC U Play and HTC U Ultra. Both devices are expected to hit the markets in both February and March respectively.

What makes the new HTC U Play and U Ultra unique is that they come in a brand new glass and metal design. This is by no means the first time we're seeing such a design but HTC's approach introduces striking color options that make it look more mesmerizing than any other glass backed smartphone out there. And to top things off, the bigger 128GB HTC U Ultra comes covered with sapphire crystal glass which is one of the most durable glass out there.

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the new HTC U smartphones also come with a USB Type-C port which is a critical spec because HTC has not included a 3.5mm headphone jack with the device. But HTC is including a pair of USB-C earphones in the box.

Moving on to more positive aspects of the HTC U series, both devices come with a new voice unlock feature that works hand in hand with the 4 always-on microphone on the device. There's also the trusty fingerprint sensor on the front. Other than that, the HTC U series looks like a pretty compelling smartphone.

At this point we're not sure if this is HTC's flagship devices for the year as the pricing for both these devices are placed at a premium.

One of the highlight features of the new Windows 10 Creators Update that Microsoft just announced this morning is the idea of introducing 3D experiences to everyone. The free update coming early next year will give Windows 10 users the ability to create and manipulate 2D objects into 3D ones but Microsoft is formerly introducing Virtual Reality to Windows 10 with the Creators Update.

As of today, VR headsets for Windows 10 like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive cost at least $500 for the headset. But Microsoft aims to change that with the new Windows 10 compliant VR headsets made by PC makers like HP, Dell, Asus, Lenovo and Acer. These VR headsets starts at just US$ 299 and Microsoft assures that these VR headsets will work with affordable device.

We're not sure what this means nor are we sure about the specs of these VR headsets but one thing's for sure, these Windows 10 compliant VR headsets will come with sensor that feture six-degrees of freedom. Expect to see these VR headsets be available around the release time of the Windows 10 Creators Update early next year.

Today, HTC is showing off two new smartphones under their Desire lineup and following the footsteps of the HTC 10 that launched earlier this year, these new phones are called the HTC Desire 10. The two Desire 10 models namely the Pro and Lifestyle looks near identical but the difference between the two is the specifications and the lack of a fingerprint scanner on the Lifestyle model.

The phones themselves are constructed out of polycarbonate and doesn't feature anything too exquisite in terms of design. And to spice things up, HTC included a gold antenna lines on the back of every Desire 10 smartphone. Whether you like it or not depends on your preference.

These two Desire 10 smartphones will be available in the coming weeks for an undisclosed price. On the flipside, HTC Malaysia has confirmed that Malaysia will be stocking up on the HTC Desire 10 Pro, so expect to see the launch for that phone soon.

Last year, HTC unveiled an iPhone lookalike called the HTC One A9 and today at IFA 2016, the company is at it again with their new HTC One A9s. While the name of the HTC One A9s sounds like an upgrade, it is in fact a downgrade in terms of specifications. The core design of the A9 is still present in the A9s but HTC has seemingly downgraded things like the screen and SoC.

Right now, HTC isn't talking about release dates and pricing yet but expect it to be more affordable than the US$ 499 HTC One A9 given that the A9s is less powerful in all aspects.

HTC might have token off the iconic Boom Sounds speaker off their new flagship phone, the HTC 10. But the company's new smartphone still features the dual front facing speakers. HTC is calling it the Desire 830 and the device currently available only in Taiwan will be a pretty decent mid ranger with a big display and comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

At just NT$ 9,990 (RM 1,200 / $300), the HTC Desire 830 checks off a lot of boxes. It comes with some decent hardware, good features and while it doesn't have the flashy back like the HTC Desire phones announced back in MWC 2016, it does have a nice accent color. To top it all, HTC also rounded the package up with a 13MP optically stabilized rear camera and their 4MP Ultrapixel camera as the selfie shooter.

After much anticipation and certainly a little too much of teasing, the HTC 10 is now official and it looks like the Android flagship family for 2016 is complete. As expected, HTC is keeping their existing design from previous years and the HTC 10 builds upon the original HTC One (M7) design by throwing in chamfered edges to the formula and they finally removed the HTC logo on the front by replacing it with a fingerprint scanning home button.

The biggest change with the HTC 10 is that HTC is no longer using the 'HTC One' branding for this device but other than that, HTC says they have kept the signature HTC One features on the new HTC 10 like the BoomSound Speakers, Ultrapixel camera and the premium aluminium build. Heck yeah, they even retained the capacitive back and multitasking buttons.

One of the biggest problems with every other HTC flagship in the past is in the camera department and this time around HTC is still sticking with their 'Ultrapixel' technology with a new 1.55um sensor that is both optically stabilized and comes with a laser autofocus system. To back up their claims, the company also sent the HTC 10 over to DXOMark beforehand to allow them to test the camera's capabilities. The results? Well, DXOMark says that the HTC 10 lives up to the marketing hype and is just as good as the camera on the Galaxy S7 edge.

But that's not all, HTC didn't stop there. Besides reinventing the rear camera, they also took the time to engineer a 5MP front camera that is optically stabilized. So you can say goodbye to all those blurry selfies. While the new front camera on the HTC 10 sound pretty impressive, HTC says the new implementation of BoomSound on the HTC 10 is better that it was before despite not having the signature dual speaker array.

Instead, HTC is opting for a single front speaker and a secondary woofer on the bottom of the device that chimes out lower frequencies and that combined gives the HTC 10 it's signature BoomSound audio. Another thing is that HTC also managed to implement a new headphone amp that is capable of upscaling 16-bit audio in to 24-bit audio so you can rest assured whether you're on your headphones or not, the HTC 10 will provide you with a pleasant audio experience

HTC will begin taking pre-order in the US starting today (April 12) and orders will begin shipping in early May. No word as to when the HTC 10 will be arriving in Malaysia and do note that HTC has confirmed that some regions will instead be receiving the HTC 10 Lifestyle opposed to the HTC 10 which has the Snapdragon 820 SoC. The smartphone trend is beginning to normalize and the last year has shown that the next big thing in mobile computing is virtual reality. Just take for example Facebook's $2 billion acquisition of Oculus which is a company started off a very successful kickstarter campaign. The market is now quite saturated with the idea of Virtual Reality and companies like Samsung, HTC, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Valve all have their own idea of what virtual reality is supposed to be.

Bucking up on that virtual reality trend, a group of VR enthusiasts (and also friends) is launching a new product which they think have a lot of potential given the amount to hype around Virtual Reality these days. These group of friends call themselves RevolVR and the company's first product is a gun controller that will work with basically every VR headset out there. You name it, they'll support it. Google Cardboard, GearVR, Carl Zeiss VR One, Archos VR Glassess...the list of supported headsets go on.

Additionally, RevolVR is not only focusing on VR accessories for mobile devices and in fact, the RevolVR will also work with VR headsets built for the PC like the Oculus Rift. However, using the RevolVR Dominator (gun) on a computer will require their Spectator module attached to the VR headset in order for accurate tracking in the game.

"You name it, they'll support it!"

What's unique about RevolVR is that they are actually planning to make the hardware and software required to make all this possible available to the public. This means that upon the success of their Indegogo campaign, RevolVR will open source the hardware that they have designed and also provide developers with an open-sourced SDK so they can fork the repository and improve upon the project.

Most notably is that RevolVR's first accessory is actually just a gun that makes playing VR shooting games a little bit more fun. While the initial idea RevolVR is to create an immersive gaming experience, this is just the start as the RevolVR software created to make the Dominator (gun) work in the Virtual Reality world will be useful to create other VR accessories to be compatible with all the VR headsets out there.

RevolVR is currently looking to fund their project on Indegogo and the goal is set at $25,000 in order to make this project come alive. However, if you want a PC gaming experience in Virtual Reality, you will need to pony up $89 to get the gun (Dominator) bundle with the RevolVR spectator PC dongle.

At this point it is clear that HTC is still not ready to unveil it's new flagship phone for 2016. While both Samsung and LG are fighting it off with the LG G5 and the Galaxy S7, HTC is also making an effort by introducing a couple of mid range smartphones under the Desire brand. The HTC Desire 825, 630 and 530 do not introduce anything radically new to the table but they all come with Google's latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

These new smartphones come with pretty mediocre hardware specifications for 2016 but HTC is sprucing up that not so powerful Snapdragon 400 SoC with a twist in the design. HTC's logo chinbar is still present on all three Desire devices, the Boom Sound speakers blends in to the design but the back is where the magic happens. Alongside the multi-color option of these new Desire devices, HTC is also putting out an option for a more subtle color dot design which makes the back looks like it's been through some dots of paint.

Depending on the color you choose, you will get a different look and some people might like how it looks and some people might not be a fan of it. HTC says the Desire 825, 630 and 530 will go on sale next month in select regions and pricing will be released in a later date

This weekend, the annual battle of the best android smartphone is about to begin and with that in mind, HTC is launching their One A9 in Malaysia. The so-called iPhone look-alike that was heavily leaked prior to it't announcement in September 2015 is the company's renewed approach to making android smartphones.

Argubly, HTC Malaysia has chose the wrong time to announce the arrival of the HTC One A9 in the Malaysian market. By next week, the news will be all about the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 and the fact that the HTC One A9 is essentially a mid-range device trying to replicate a flagship experience doesn't give HTC any luck here.

But don't get me wrong here, I am not trying to defame the HTC One A9 by any means but the timing is a little wrong. Besides getting a design scheme similar to the iPhone 6/6s, the HTC One A9 also comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow running out of the box. HTC Malaysia says the the One A9 is now available through authorized dealers throughout Malaysia and the Carbon Gray and Topaz Gold will only be available in Malaysia. But whether you ware willing to pay the RM 2,299 for this not-so flagship smartphone is is up to you.

HTC has made quite a lot of flagship grade smartphones this year, some are big, some made out of plastic and some with QHD displays. While the HTC One M9 is not coming to Malaysia, the HTC One M9 Plus is equally better than HTC's flagship One device. Speaking of the HTC One M9 Plus, the device was initially thought of as a China exclusive variant of the HTC One M9 but that ended up being false as the device managed to make it's way outside of China.

Another device which was initially thought of as a flagship device is the HTC One E9+ which is yet another on of HTC's flagship grade smartphone this year. The interesting thing is that this device launched with the HTC One M9 plus in China and you know what, HTC Malaysia is also bringing this device into the Malaysia.

Like I said earlier, the HTC One E9+ is a lot like HTC's other 2015 flagship smartphones. It comes with a 5.5" QHD display, the same 8 core Mediatek CPU found in the HTC One M9 plus, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable memory, a decently sized 2,800mAh battery, LTE support and a 4MP ultrapixel camera.

The HTC One E9+ also includes some of the signature HTC One M9 features like the dual Boom Sound speakers and also HTC's new 20MP f2.0 camera sensor. All of this is wrapped in a polycarbonate body that has a dual tone design.

HTC Malaysia says the the HTC One E9+ will have an MSRP of RM 1,899 inclusive of GST and will be available throughout the country today.

Next week is going to be quite a busy one indeed as Nokia, OnePlus, Motorola, and Microsoft are planning to make big announcements throughout the week. Motorola in particular is expected to announce a refresh to both the flagship Moto X and the midrange Moto G. We've already learnt through leaks that the Moto G has a slightly new design, better hardware and will for the first time come with Moto Maker.

As for the high-end Moto X, this is probably out best look at it. These images do look credible as they look a lot like the Moto G renders we've seen. The back of the new 2015 Moto X in particular looks near identical to the one one the Moto G but when we turn over to the front, it also looks familiar.

The thin bezels are present and the source did mention that the speakers are stereo sounding this time around and overall the design and shape of the 2015 Moto X is quite similar to that of it's predecessors with a metal frame featuring a slight curve all around.

But that's not the whole point, if you look closer, on the top right corner you would notice a white circle beside the front facing camera. Yes, that is indeed a front facing flash. It's not a crazy dual flash setup like on the HTC Desire EYE but it would definitely aid the camera in low light situations or your just want to use the front camera as a mirror in the dark.

As for specifications, expect the usual hardware found on the Galaxy S6 and LG G4 to be present on the 2015 Moto X as this is a flagship device. Motorola will be holding that press conference on next Tuesday.

HTC turned the tables this year when they reused the near identical HTC One design from 2013, the HTC One M9 was their contender in the flagship wars this year. Although, the original HTC One M9 didn't make it to the Malaysian market, the seemingly more powerful variant of it made it to our markets, the HTC One M9+.

It's no secret that HTC has been battling it out with other manufacturers in the past few years ans although recent reports of a acquisition by Asus turned out to be un-true, HTC is still facing problems. The latest report by Digitimes reveal that HTC might've only managed to sell 4.75 million HTC One M9 devices in the first three months since entering the market.

The report also concluded that HTC is not only facing low sales values for their flagship lineup of device but their mid range handsets are also at risk in the Chinese market due to tough competition from Chinese giants like Xiaomi.

Back in April, HTC Malaysia launched the bigger HTC One M9+ in Malaysia and it looks like yet another flagship device from HTC might be on it's way to stores near your. Revealed through a listing on HTC China's website, the HTC One ME looks like the HTC One M9+ with a plastic back.

In terms of design, HTC hasn't swayed much from how the One series of device should look like. On the front we still the ever popular Boom Sound speakers and just like the HTC One M9+, the new HTC One ME also has a fingerprint scanner on the front.

On the hardware side, the same Mediatek Helio X10 processor is still here and so is the combination of the 5.2" QHD and 3GB of RAM . The camera on the back is also the same 20MP sensor found throughout all the HTC One branded devices released this year. No duo camera setup on the rear but the front does have the 4MP Ultrapixel camera.

As expected, this is currently still exclusive to China but if history does repeats itself, HTC will soon bring the HTC One ME out of China and into the Malaysian market

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is second to none in terms of gross profit for films released this year and back in March we saw a whole slew of Marvel themed Galaxy S6's. Back then, reports stated that Samsung was indeed considering to create a limited edition set of Galaxy S6's which will replicate the many heroes of the Marvel Universe.

Well, today Samsung is officially acknowledging the crowd with the very first teaser of an Iron Man Galaxy S6 edge. The teaser image released did not state much but the image of the box with the Avengers and Iron Man head is enough to make Marvel fans throw money onto their screens. Ironically, Robert Downey Jr. which portrays Iron Man is promoting the HTC One M9 and his Iron Man character is promoting the Galaxy S6 edge.

As you can see from the apparent box of the device, this might very well be a limited edition smartphone and there might also be other versions featuring other Marvel superheroes in the Avengers. Whatever this turns out to be, Samsung is definitely on to something good so stay tuned for more on this and in the mean time do check out the concept renders of the Galaxy S6 themed marvel phones.

The HTC One M9 was released earlier this year at MWC 2015 and realistically speaking, the reviews on it are identical to that of the outgoing HTC One M8. Everything was good on the device except the camera which lost to both flagships from Samsung and LG. HTC didn't stop there however, last month the company announced the HTC One M9+ and HTC One E9+ which is now available for purchase in Malaysia.

Well, you might think that's the end right? Think again, HTC and KDDI has just announced the HTC J Butterfly in Japan. Don't be mistaken with the HTC J Butterfly from 2012 which is also from KDDI. This is a brand new device which improves on the feature set from both the HTC One M9 and HTC One E9+.

Unlike the mainstream HTC One design, the 2015 HTC J Butterfly takes on the design of previous HTC Butterfly devices with a hint of recent HTC Desire smartphones. First off, the front of the device looks very much like the HTC Desire EYE, the Boom Sound speakers are cleverly hidden in between the seems of the top and bottom bezels. The front facing camera is centered and just like on the HTC Desire EYE, the selfie camera is at 13MP. Seemingly there is also no HTC branding on the front of the display too.

In terms of hardware, the HTC J Butterfly has specs identical to that of the HTC One M9. The octa core Snapdragon 810 processor is still there and so is the combination of 3GB of RAM alongside 32GB of exapandable memory. What has evidently changed however is the inclusion of a 5.2" Quad HD display bringing up the pixel density to a dense 565 ppi.

Turning to the back will reveal the Duo Camera setup similar to that of the HTC One M9+, the 20MP sensor on the HTC One M9 is combined with HTC's depth sensing module. The placement of the depth sensing camera isn't that optimal as that spot will most likely where the index finger will rest when holding the device. As you can see, the HTC J Butterfly comes in 3 bright color options which are glossy.

In addition to the strikingly similar design the HTC J Butterfly bears, the device like it's predecessors does indeed feature a water resistant design. Don't expect to dip this device into 1m of water as it is merely rated for splashes of water likely caused by accidents.

All in all, this is a Japan exclusive device and given the history of the HTC Butterfly series, expect to see an international variant of this device being called the HTC Butterfly 3. That'll be unveiled in the coming weeks or months ahead.

Alongside news that the HTC One M9 will not be making it's way to Malaysian markets (officially that is). HTC Malaysia is also announcing a brand new flagship device for Malaysia. Say hello to the HTC One M9+ which was initially thought to be a China exclusive broke it's exclusivity when it landed in India weeks back.

The fiasco with LTE bands cause the HTC One M9+ to arrive in Malaysia and this isn't to say bad news whatsoever. Comparing this against the HTC One M9 which was announced at MWC 2015, the HTC One M9+ is argubly more powerful and better in so many ways.

Like on the HTC One M9, the HTC One M9+ also features the new aluminum body which is comprised of several pieces of aluminum to create a dual ton finish. Also, the HTC One M9+ will come in the same color option like on the HTC One M9; gold on silver and gunmetal grey.

The size is the main difference between the two, the HTC One M9+ coming to the Malaysian market features a 5.2" Quad HD display and is flanked with the Boom Sound speakers on the front. Also on the front is a 4MP Ultrapixel camera which will do good selfies even in low light. But that's not all on the front, this device also features a fingerprint scanner which is a first on HTC smartphones.

Under the hood, lies the most significant change compared to the standard HTC One M9. The Snapdragon 810 CPU is swapped with a less conventional Mediatek Helio X10 CPU which like the S810 is 64-bit and features 8 processing cores. In addition to that, the HTC One M9+ also features 3GB of RAM alongside 32GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card.

Then it's the back, everything looks similar to that of the HTC One M9, it even has that brushed aluminum look to it but the camera has evidently been upgraded. The shape of the camera cutout is round but the 20MP camera is now accompanied with HTC's depth sensing secondary shooter. This Duo Camera setup is similar to that of the HTC One M8 and paired it up with HTC's software and you'll be able to recreate some interesting trick shots.

Finally, the HTC One M9+ runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is atop of HTC's Sense 7 UI which features themeing options. All of this hardware and software is powered by a 2,840mAh battery.

HTC Malaysia will begin offering the HTC One M9+ in stores nationwide starting April 30 which is this Thursday. As for pricing, the HTC One M9+ will go fore RM 2,599 which is the exact same price as the recently launched Galaxy S6. So, which would you go for, the HTC One M9+ of the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Last week alongside the news that HTC Malaysia will be launching new devices on April 28, the SIRIM database also pinged and what showed up was the HTC One M9+. Well, today before the launch event tonight, news broke out that HTC Malaysia will only be bringing in the HTC One M9+ as the sole HTC flagship for the Malaysian market.

The decision to bring in the more powerful device is apparently part of a larger plan and that's not it. Apparently the HTC One M9 is only suited towards countries which support LTE CAT 6 and thus the HTC One M9 is not making it's way to Malaysia officially.

Earlier this month, HTC announced the HTC One M9 Plus in China and the device is effectively a bigger and more powerful version of the company's HTC One M9. At that time we thought the HTC One M9+ was exclusive to China but that turned out to be a false alarm.

Just last week, HTC launched the HTC One M9 Plus in India with a $40 price premium over the standard HTC One M9. Well, Samsung has started offering both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in Malaysia last week, and HTC is scheduled to launch the HTC One M9 next week.

So, according to a SIRIM database check, the HTC One M9 Plus has been certified in Malaysia which means that the launch next week will indefinitely feature the new HTC One M9 Plus.

As a recap, the HTC One M9 Plus features the company's first Quad HD display on a 5.2" panel and the device also features a fingerprint scanner on the front. Besides that, the HTC One M9 Plus is near identical to the HTC One M9 in terms of design and overall feel.

The day we've all been waiting for has come, HTC is shutting down all the leaks surrounding their alleged flagship phone by officially announcing the device. As expected, the HTC One M9+ was launched earlier this morning in Beijing and it's pretty much the same device we've been seeing for the past month just without the watermarks atop.

HTC is apparently putting this right above the HTC One E9+ and HTC One M9 as the device not only features a top of the line 8 core Mediatek Helios processor, it also feature what looks to be the best display ever to grace a HTC phone. The 5.2" Quad HD display shares the front alongside the company's unique Boom Sound speakers.

Turn the device around and you'll be greeted with what looks to be a similar setup like on the HTC One M8 but in reality this is a more powerful solution. The Duo Camera setup on the HTC One M9+ features the same depth sensor but comes accompanied with the same 20MP sensor on the HTC One M9.

All around the device, you will see the same machine aluminum body which features the same fit and finish found on the HTC One M9. But if you look to the front, there is a significant change to the lower Boom Sound speakers; HTC has slotted in a home button? Nope, that is actually a fingerprint sensor which works something like the one on the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6.

Besides that, everything we know about the HTC One M9 is on the HTC One M9+, the power button is still on the side and the same Sense 7 powers this new beast. As to availability of this device, China is the only place you will be able to get it at the moment; Pricing has yet to be revealed but expect it to be $100 - $200 more expensive than the HTC One M9.
