TIME Malaysia's new home broadband boasts speeds up to 500Mbps
For years, TM has dominated the fibre optic internet market in Malaysia but it looks like Time (they company is just called that, don't mix it up with Time magazine or Time Warner) is ready to shake up the market with their latest offering. The company today is announcing an overhaul to their home broadband offerings and the plans start at 100Mbps and goes up to 500Mbps. Yes, you heard that right, just halfway to Gigabit internet.
These new fibre internet plans by Time will replace the existing speeds that they were offering and existing customers will automatically be upgraded to the new tiers. As for new customers that would like such ludicrous internet speeds, the new Time Fibre plans start at only RM 149 per month for the base 100Mbps and goes up to RM 299 for the top of the line plan with 500Mbps internet speed.
Time says that these new plans will come with a 2 year contract and as per the fact sheet, there is no quota binding these plans so you can just use it to your heart's content. Compared to existing options by TM and Maxis, this looks pretty much like a steal but given that the market is equal, it probably won't be long before TM unveils new offerings to the mass market.
