Alongside the reveal of the Mi Note 2 in Beijing, Xiaomi also slipped in the announcement of the Mi Mix which is the company's futuristic concept phone. Dubbed the Mi MIX, the smartphone is designed in partnership with French Designer Philippe Strack and it's highlight feature is the 91% screen to body ratio. The Mi MIX's size is similar to Apple's iPhone 7 Plus but the Mi MIX has 23% more screen in the same size.

What this means is that the Mi MIX will look like a borderless phone. Also, to accomadate the borderless design, the panel on the Mi MIX is actually a 17:9 display that maximizes the screen real estate even with the soft keys.

Additionally, Xiaomi had to make some changes about how they designed the Mi MIX in order to create that borderless display. For starters, the display actually features rounded corners on the side and the phone is built with a metal frame that is physically connected together. The design of the metal frame is the key to enabling the earpiece on the Mi MIX.

Xiaomi will being offering the Mi Note 2 in China next month (November 2016) for CN¥ 3,499(~US$ 510 / ~MYR 2,100) and CN¥ 3,999 (~US$ 590 / ~MYR 2,500) for the 128 and 256GB models. The higher end 256GB model also comes with an 18K gold highlights on the camera and fingerprint sensor to add another level of style.

Xiaomi says that they plan to roll out the Mi MIX outside of China but there is not exact time frame as to when that will happen.
