Google announces Daydream, Android's VR platform
Google is preparing to launch Android N in the coming weeks and while they are still trying to find a name for it, the company did reveal a couple new features coming to this new release on Android. To no surprise, Google is baking in VR right into Android N and they are calling the VR experience on Android N as Daydream.
According to Google, Daydream is designed to be a seamless VR experience and alongside a custom UI that Google is building into Android N, they are also introducing a couple of hardware specifications that make an Android device Daydream-Ready. The first batch of these Daydream-Ready smartphones will be coming by the end of the year by companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE, Asus and Alcatel.
