Xiaomi announces their most affordable smartphone yet at only RM 300
Just last week we found out that Xiaomi was planning to celebrate their 5th anniversary with a launch event in China and as expected the company unveiled several new products. One of them is a brand new smartphone which instantly becomes their most affordable android offering yet.
The 'new' device is called the Xiaomi Redmi 2A and as the name suggests, it's based off their entry level Redmi 2. This new affordable smartphone from Xiaomi features a 4.7" 720P display, an 8MP camera, a 2MP front facing camera, and a 2,200mAh battery.
The discerning difference between the Redmi 2 and Redmi 2A is that the latter features a Leadcore (L1860C) quad core processor opposed to a Qualcomm chipset. Besides that, the Redmi 2A is also a dual SIM device capable of LTE and Xiaomi has also boxed in a fast-charging technology onto the Redmi 2A.
As for pricing of the device, Xiaomi pegs the price of the Redmi 2A at 599 yuan (~RM 360) but on April 8 they will be slashing that price to only 499 yuan (~RM 299) which makes it the most affordable LTE smartphone out there. We're not entirely sure if it'll go on sale in Malaysia on April 8 but rest assured that Xiaomi will definitely bring in the Redmi 2A in the near future.
