HTC announces the sub-$200 Desire 626
Several weeks back there were leaks about a new Desire device and at that time the official debut of the device seemed to be set for MWC 2015. But it turns out the rumors and reports are wrong as HTC Taiwan has just announced the availability of the Desire 626.
The device packs a 5" 720P display, Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 410 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable memory, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. In addition to that, the Desire 626 runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat (some sources say Lollipop?) atop of Sense 6 and all of that for NT$5590 (~ $190).
The Desire 626 will be joining the ever growing portfolio of Desire devices by HTC and for the sub-$200 price, HTC is competing against devices like the Moto G as well as mid range Windows Phone devices from Microsoft. Also stay tuned in the coming weeks as MWC 2015 is nearing and flagship offerings from both HTC and Samsung will be making it's debut there.
