Samsung has been trying to gain back some market traction lately and earlier this week, Samsung Malaysia launched a the Galaxy A series to the Malaysia market. The Galaxy A series is technically derived from the Galaxy Alpha but stretches all the way to the mid-range device segment. Building up from the semi-metal build of the Galaxy Alpha, the Galaxy A range of devices feature an aluminium unibody design which mean the devices doesn't have Samsung's signature removable plastic back and not to mention the battery is not user replaceable.

Both the Galaxy A3 and A5 will be the first two devices in this family and they share a lot in common. The Snapdragon 410 powers both devices and on the front, both devices feature a 5MP front facing camera which Samsung expects users to take a lot of selfies with. Heck yeah, there's even a software features called wide-selfie to help you get more faces onto the frame. Well if that's not enough, the Rear-cam selfie mode will enable you to easily take selfies with the more higher resolution rear facing camera.

In terms of design, the two devices feature a near identical look on the back and front. The only noticeable difference is the sheer size of the device and both devices have a thickness of under 7mm. Well here's something special, the biggest in the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A7 made a surprise appearance during the launch and in fact the device has yet to be officially announced internationally. Besides that, the Galaxy A7 is a lot like the two other two devices in the Galaxy A series. The difference is a much bigger 5.5" 1080P display is included and the device is powered by Qualcomm's new 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa core processor.

Something to note is that the Galaxy A7 features a 12MP camera on the back which sounds like a small stepdown from the 13MP shooter from the more affordable Galaxy A5. But if you remember, the Galaxy Alpha also came with a 12MP camera and the camera experience turned out pretty good. Just like the smaller Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A7 will also be coming to Malaysia but not at the same time. According to loywat.net, the Galaxy A7 will go on sale in February for MYR 1,499.

Samsung will start selling both the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 on January 9 (Friday) at Samsung stores nationwide. The Galaxy A3 will go for MYR 899 and the bigger Galaxy A5 will be priced in at MYR 1,199. For these prices, Samsung might just hit the mark because these devices feature a premium build and specifications are pretty competitive.
