The biggest problem with smartphones these days is that the battery life is not good and the solution that companies come up with is either to include a bigger battery of make charging faster. Currently in the market, we have a couple of fast charging technologies and specifically for MediaTek SoCs, the fast charging tech is called PumpExpress.

With the ever growing competition, MediaTek is showing off their third generation fast charging technology called Pump Express 3.0. The new standard that will arrive in new MediaTek chipsets by the end of 2016 takes full advantage of the new USB Type-C interface which enables Pump Express 3.0 to charge a device from 0 to 70% in just 20 minutes.

MediaTek notes that their method that takes advantage of the new USB Type-C spec is 50% faster than the previous generation Pump Express 2.0 tech all while reducing the chance of overheating while charging.
