Lenovo A7000 launched in Malaysia, features Dolby Atmos audio at only RM 699
After being shown off at MWC 2015; Today, Lenovo simultaneously launched the Lenovo A7000 in six Asean countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines). At it's core, the Lenovo A7000 is marketed as a midrange device but the main selling point for this new handset for Lenovo is the Dolby Atmos audio.
Under the hood, there is a 1.5GHz octa core MediaTek CPU that features 8 Cortex-A53 cores and is paired up with 2GB of RAM. The Lenovo A7000 features a 5.5" 720P display. an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP fixed focus front facing camera, 32GB of expandable storage, a massive 2,900mAh removable battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Lenovo Vibe skin.
Moving on to the star of the show, Dolby Atmos support which works a lot like how the Beats Audio used to work on HTC devices. That means that this is merely just a software enhancement through the built in Dolby Atmos application on the device.
If you're not familiar with Dolby Atmos, basically it's a film standard which rivals IMAX but the difference is that with Dolby Atmos, the sound is spread on over to 64 different speakers and thus creating a sound array which is theoretically better sounding than the conventional surround sound. You can try Dolby Atmos at select GSC theaters like at GSC 1 Utama or IOI City Mall, but on a side note, only select movies will be available in this rich audio format.
As for pricing, the Lenovo A7000 goes for RM 699 and ZDNET notes that Lenovo will be exclusively partnering with Lazada.com to sell the Lenovo A7000 for the first 6 weeks. Lazada however will start the first flash sale of the Lenovo A7000 next wednesday (20 May; 12PM) and on top of that, they'll be offering buyers a RM 20 discount on the already rebated price if you register for the flash sale today.
So, that'll be only RM 605 if you buy the Lenovo A7000 via Lazada next week. Lenovo says they will continue to restock the device for more flash sales in the coming weeks via Lazada and only in mid-June will they start offering the Lenovo A7000 at physical shops at the RM 699 price.
