The shocking headline for this article is just as true as Xiaomi's other smartphone. Following in their strategy for their entire lineup of devices, Xiaomi has just unveiled their first 'global' smartphone which is not only affordable but packs a punch.

At the launch in India today, Hugo Barra took the stage to explain all about the brand new Xiaomi Mi 4i which as the name suggests is closely related to their recent Mi 4 flagship. But opposingly, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is not geared up to overthrone the sexy Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, but instead this device's intent is to reach the hands of just about anyone everywhere.

From the specs, you might think this a pretty high end device, Xiaomi managed to put in a 5" 1080P display onto a body which is 10% smaller than of a iPhone 6. Powering the device is the more budget friendly 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor which is backed up by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

On the back of the device, Xiaomi has generously included a 13MP camera (mix between Sony and Samsung sensors) paired with a dual tone LED flash. The front camera is a 5MP f1.8 type which coupled with their software enhancements will make your selfies more desirable.

The most intriguing bit is the fact that this compact device has a 3,120mAh battery which supports fast charging and all off that in a chassis just 7.8mm thick. Given the economical pricing of the device, Xiaomi has opted to do away with the fancy aluminum on the Xiaomi Mi 4i and instead went with a polycarbonate build like on their entry-level Redmi series.

And of course, the Xiaomi Mi 4i runs android and is actually the company's first smartphone running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Atop of that, Xiaomi is tying Android 5.0 with MIUI 6 which included several enhancements over previous versions.

Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 4i looks to be a pretty solid phone given the price and Xiaomi says India will be the first to taste Xiaomi's latest creation. As per usual, Xiaomi will sell the Xiaomi Mi 4i on April 30 through flipkart and the price is set at Rs 12,999 (~$205).

Although not mentioned but Xiaomi will most likely start rolling out the Xiaomi Mi 4i in other regions throughout the world. Given that Malaysia is a key market for Xiaomi, expect the device to land in Malaysia pretty soon and the price should be around that $200 regional price
