Supercell, or better known as the game developer behind popular iOS and Android games like Clash of Clans and Hay Day announced that they will have a new owner. The US$ 8.6 Billion deal will see Japan's Softbank transfer their 84.3% stake to Shenzhen based Tencent which makes a number of mobile games and also social networks like Weibo and WeChat.

This deal which is expected to close by Q3 2016 will make Tencent the major stakeholder in Supercell but Tencent is agreeing to keep Supercell as an independent and private firm. Supercell believes that Tencent is the best option for them as both companies share the same vision and the fact that Tencent is actually a major player in the mobile gaming space makes this a strategic partnership.
