Asus's ZenWatch 2 is the Apple Watch running Android Wear
Coming back strong, Asus has just unveiled their second generation Android Wear device just 6 months after it was first announced in IFA 2015. The cleverly named Asus ZenWatch 2 is just like the older one but this time they are adding some interesting changes.
Starting off with the display, this time around there will be two version of the watch, a 42mm and 37mm version which takes 22mm and 18mm bands respectively. The display has a little curve on the sides and comes with Gorilla Glass 3. Like all Android Wear devices, the ZenWatch 2 is powered by a Qualcomm processor (unnamed at this time).
Being the first Android Wear smartwatch to feature size options, the Asus ZenWatch 2 reminds us a lot about the Apple Watch. Asus has also gone the distance by also including a digital crown like dial on the ZenWatch 2 which introduces a new way to navigate through the interface. Customizing is yet another forte of the ZenWatch 2, there are a total of 18 color and material combinations which users will be able to choose from.
From leather straps to gold shades for the case, the ZenWatch is a uniquely different smartwatch in the Android world. Also different from it's predecessor is the new IP67 certification which will allow wearers to go into pool swims for about 30 minutes.
