Facebook announces video calling on Messenger, available on iOS and Android today
For the past year, Facebook, the social media company has been trying to innovate beyond the Facebook Timeline and that has resulted in the company acquiring both WhatsApp and Oculus. Building on their previous announcements of Facebook Messenger becoming a separate service through messenger.com; Today Facebook is announcing that video call will be coming to Facebook Messenger.
As of March 2015, Facebook Messenger has over 600 million active montly users making it the second most used IM application around. The addition of video calling builds upon the ability to perform voice calls on Messenger.
Like the voice calling feature, Facebook will slowly roll out this new video calling feature and this feature will be available to iOS and Android users in the following countries. The company adds that more countries will be able to utilize this feature in the coming months ahead. Watch the introductory video below to learn more
Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US and Uruguay.
