Xiaomi has just announced the successor to their ultra-budget device, the Redmi 1S. The new device dubbed, the Redmi 2S improves from it's predecessor by not only being thinner and lighter but it is also a little bit more powerful than ever. Changes include the new 64-bit Snapdragon 410 under the hood, a bigger 2,200 mAh battery, and LTE support for three of China's biggest mobile providers (China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom). At 9.2mm thick and 133 grams, the new Xiaomi Redmi 2S still features the same 4.7" 720p display from it's predecessor, an 8MP camera on the rear and also Dual SIM support. Unchanged is the ¥699 ($112 / MYR 397) price tag of the Redmi 2S which makes it an excellent contender in the budget smartphone market.

Another thing different about the Redmi 2S is that it comes in 5 different colors opposed to just black and white on the Redmi 1S. The colors however does look a little light and yeah somehow looks a little girly to me. But nevertheless, the Redmi 2S will most likely launch in Malaysia in the coming months given the success of the Redmi 1S in Malaysia last year (Soyacincau noted that the LTE bands on the Redmi 2S does work with Malaysia bands).

Also, today Hugo Barra via twitter announced that Xiaomi has sold a record 61 million devices last year and just to keep note that Xiaomi was founded just about 5 years ago and their success today is mostly because of their lowly priced devices giving buyers the best bang for the buck value.
