Microsoft launches the Lumia 435/532 for only $80*
Starting off the year, Microsoft has just announced the most affordable Lumia device ever. The Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 are two new Lumia devices with the Microsoft branding embedded. Both devices are priced in at under $100 before taxes, the Lumia 435 is priced at €69 (~MYR 300) and the Lumia 532 is at €79 (~MYR 334). Very similarly spec'd like the recently announced Lumia 535, the Lumia 435/532 is powered by the same 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 200 processor paired up with 1GB of RAM but has a more sizeable 4" screen with a resolution of 480 X 800 which is not too bad for a device this size.
- Microsoft Mobile Malaysia launches the Lumia 535 for RM 429
- Hands on with the most affordable Lumia yet
The Lumia 435 is the first -400 series Lumia device and although there is a number gap between the Lumia 532 and Lumia 435, both devices are virtually the same inside. A microSD card is present to expand the build in 8GB of storage and they both come with a VGA front facing camera and a fixed focus 5MP camera like on the Lumia 530.
Other than that, these new entry level devices are just like any other Lumia devices, they do come with the Lumia Denim update and the whole suite of Microsoft services are also included.
In terms of the look of the two, they seem to inherit design cues from the Nokia Asha lineup which has solid curves and the bright Lumia colors. Another thing that Microsoft chose to do on the Lumia 435/532 is that instead of using on screen keys like the majority of mid-low end Lumia devices in the past few months, they decided to go with the classic capacitive keys.
Besides that, as i mentioned earlier this is the second Microsoft branded device and it seems that Microsoft has finally figure out their branding on Lumia devices. On the Lumia 535, the Microsoft brand was printed onto the polycarbonate back with black font but on the Lumia 435/532, it looks like Microsoft has embossed the brand onto the back.
With the launch of these two new devices, Microsoft is firmly putting down their foot and saying that in time Nokia Asha devices will be replaced with Lumia devices and not to forget the random Nokia X devices is most likely long gone from Microsoft Mobile's product roadmap.
The Lumia 435/532 will be coming to select markets Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa next month. These two devices will most likely reach Malaysia early next month for around RM 300 for the Lumia 435 and RM 330 for the Lumia 532. In the mean time check out the product videos for both the devices below.
