LG Display shows off a phone with a bent screen on both sides

Last year Samsung showed off the Galaxy Note 4 Edge which has a curve on the right of the display giving that rich experience for certain applications. At CES this year, there isn't anything as groundbreaking as the Note Edge but the Asus Zenfone Zoom comes close with it's rather unusually big hump. Well in a closed preview, The Verge managed to get their hands on a prototype device from LG Display, not to be mistaken by LG Electronics, the two companies are separate entities.

The 6" display on this device features not one but two curved sides giving the device a wraparound feel and overall gives the device a more spacious look. Running a special version of LG's UI, the device like the Galaxy Note Edge can display various information depending on the application. The panel is a 6" 720P OLED display like the original LG G Flex but the screen is bent to both sides on this device. Just a little reminder that this device acts as a proof of concept and is not meant to make it to the market, well not with ginormous LG Display logo on the top.

LG Display did not mention anything about mass producing this panel but when it does it'll probably be for the next generation LG G Flex. Personally i think that these devices which curve into the sides haven't quite been thought about, holding it on the sides is a definite problem. Well until they think of something to solve that problem devices like this will continue to be a niche device category.
